RISE UP & REVOLT Print Release
What has this world come to? What have we become? We all need to rise up and revolt!
The COVID-19 pandemic has surely brought the world to a major crossroads we are all aware of: either we will take the path of collective action and concretely address the pervasive inequalities that have risen across the globe, or we will continue on the route filled with deep-rooted injustices and pervasive inequalities.
We are privileged with many freedoms: individual, national and political. The rights to speech, to assembly, and to petition give us the ability to change our situation. And it can be easy to take these freedoms for granted when they are a part of our daily lives. Sadly, there are millions of people around the world who are not free, and lack of access to basic necessities is a roadblock to freedom.
The famous 20th-century philosopher Theodor Adorno once wrote that “all art is an uncommitted crime”, saying that art should be a forceful and impressive tool to change society. As such, art is a very powerful form of nonviolent protest in any struggle for social or political change. For more than half of the world’s population living under authoritarian regimes, art provides an essential outlet for self-expression. Street art is the way artists adapt art to the postmodern capitalist world.
In today’s modern world, to be an artist is just like to be a journalist – Report the realities of society, present sometimes disputed ideas about beauty, normality, leadership, or the future.
These new limited edition prints present a visual metaphor for hope in the unknown future. They have the ability to wake us up to fight the establishment and oppression, to change our understanding of some concepts such as normality, to destroy social conventions, to disrupt the status quo. Whether we are against or for, together or alone, the true power lies in ourselves, in our hands. The truth is, as heavy as the world’s problems can be, one small act from you can make a difference. And that is exactly what these stunning prints represent. Let’s change the world together, one step at a time, one artwork at a time.
